A new study has examined whether healthcare design is a contributing factor to infection control, according to an article on the Infection Control Today website.
Researchers looked at PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) from 1990 to Dec. 31, 2015.
They identified three studies that focused on the accessibility of the location of the antiseptic handrub dispenser.
Each showed a significant improvement of hand-hygiene compliance or use with accessible dispensers near the patient's bed.
