Study suggests a cohesive team will have improved compliance


A recent study has suggested that a cohesive healthcare facility team will have improved hand-hygiene compliance, according to an article on the Becker's Infection Control & Clinical Quality website.

A recent study in the American Journal of Infection Control showed that a positive work culture can increase hand washing.

An Australian teaching hospital installed an automated hand-hygiene surveillance system and started giving daily feedback to staff on two wards. 

"Staff from the ward with improved compliance described a socially cohesive team with a well-liked nurse unit manager who accessed daily compliance rates and worked with staff to set goals," the study said.
