Cashiers employed by Morrison Healthcare that work at Mayo Clinic's Saint Marys and Methodist campuses voted unanimously this week to join a union, according to an article on the Post-Bulletin website.
The 26 cashiers voted to join SEIU Healthcare Minnesota. They are the third group of food service employees who work for Morrison Healthcare to vote to join the union.
The votes have come after Mayo Clinic decided to subcontract its food service program.
The move meant food service workers went from being Mayo Clinic employees to Morrison Healthcare employees. According to SEIU Healthcare, the latest vote by the cashiers means that the union now represents almost 700 food service workers.
