Modular construction is booming in healthcare, but despite benefits, it may not be for every project, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

For hospitals, modular building should be part of the plan from the beginning. A seamless look between modular and non-modular segments is possible only if the modular construction is part of the original design, the article said.

Questions to ask when considering modular construction include:

• Does my project have to be constructed on or around an existing medical facility?

• Does my project have time sensitivity? 

• Can I support an integrated design process?
