Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, N.Y., was recently cited by health inspectors for food-safety violations, according to an article on the Lohud website.
Among the problems inspectors found was insufficiently hot meat in the cafe, a food poisoning hazard.
The Riverview Cafe is run by Elite Culinary Services and it is separate from the kitchen that prepares food for patients, according to the article. Mostly hospital staff eat at the cafe.
A hospital official said corrective action was immediately taken. Staff at the cafe will now monitor how long hot foods containing meats are left on display.
