Ohio county considering portable hospital

Location and volunteers sought for emergency facility

A coalition of local medical centers is looking to bring a portable hospital to Allen County, Ohio. The 30-bed portable hospital would be used during natural disasters or pandemics, according to an article on the Lima Ohio website.

The group is seeking a place where the portable hospital can be stored, a towing vehicle, and deployment staff who can drive the unit.

There are already two portable hospitals located in Toledo and the Northwest Ohio Healthcare Preparedness Committee, is willing to bring one to Allen County.

The facility would be maintained by the coalition of medical centers, which would also pay for any cost incurred. The centers would have to pay for a vehicle to tow it to another location in the case of an emergency situation, as well the equipment stored in the hospital.
