One In Eight UK Patients Caught COVID In Hospital

Researchers said that was a relatively low rate


A new study has suggested that thousands of patients in the UK were probably infected with coronavirus in  hospitals, according to an article on the BBC website.

The King's College London study of 10 UK and one Italian hospital found at least one in eight COVID patients had caught it on-site.

Researchers said that was a relatively low rate.

The majority of these patients had already been hospitalized for awhile with a pre-existing  condition.

A different study has shown that there are two broad microbial communities within hospitals that may contribute to hospital-acquired infections, according to a Modern Healthcare article..

One was associated with surfaces that are touched frequently by patients and healthcare workers. The other included sites like sink traps
