Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, Calif., is dealing with its infection crisis, according to an article on The San Gabriel Valley Tribune website.
Three patients who died last year were infected with the bacteria after having procedures involving endoscopes.
A report issued by the Pasadena Health Department shows that Huntington was fully cooperative with an investigation into the deaths and infections, all of which occurred in patients who were already diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.
The report identified needs to improve endoscope sterilization, including stopping the use of “canned compressed air” from Office Depot in the cleaning process, and requires that the hospital implement “a robust infection control unit.”
