The patients were evacuated before the Vista Del Mar Hospital in Ventura, Calif., was destroyed by wildfire, according to an article on the Pharmacy Choice website.
At least two structures — an administration building and a unit for adolescents — were destroyed by the fire. Flames were still cracking and exploding the next day, according to the article.
The fire forced the evacuation of 67 patients, who were relocated to other facilities. A spokeswoman for Ventura County Medical Center said some of the patients were being taken there.
Many of the patients were taken temporarily to a shelter at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
