The World Health Organization, U.S. hospitals and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services are all getting ready


The World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. hospitals and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) are all preparing for a national spread of the new coronavirus, according to an article on the Becker's Clinical Leadership and Infection Control website.

WHO held a forum Feb. 11-12 to mobilize coronavirus research and innovation. In collaboration with the Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness, experts met in Geneva to discuss vaccine development.

U.S. hospitals are preparing for a national coronavirus spike. Hospitals are urged to review the "four Ss" amid an outbreak — supplies, staff, space and the system that governs them all.

CMS issued two advisories to help healthcare facilities prepare for an outbreak in the U.S. CMS has provided information on emergency infection control policies and is urging state survey agencies to conduct facility inspections to ensure compliance.
