British healthcare facilities are using a red bag system launched to keep patient belonging safe, according to an article on the Spire FM website.

The red bags, which are being phased in across the country, are used to carry health information, care plan and medication — as well as important personal items.

The idea had been tested in South West London over the last few years, with positive results.

The project reduced average hospital stays by three to four days - that saves £167,000 a year and there have been fewer items like hearing aids, dentures and glasses lost.
