A respiratory outbreak has closed the nursing home portion of the Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre in Ontario, Canada, since Jan. 6, according to an article on the MidNorth Monitor website.
Residents affected by symptoms are being isolated to prevent the spread to other residents.
Other measures to deal with an outbreak include enhanced infection control measures, enhanced surface sanitation, posting signage, handwashing and having equipment available such as gloves, gowns and masks.
The nursing home is also dealing with an enteric outbreak and the similar preventive measures are in place for both outbreaks.
