Saskatoon's Royal University Hospital requires $435 million to address maintenance needs


According to a recent assessment, Saskatchewan healthcare facilities need $2.2 billion in repairs, an article on the Leader-Post website said.

Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital requires $435 million to address maintenance needs, according to Vanderwiel Facility Assessors (VFA). 

The biggest obstacle provincially is Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital, which requires $435 million to address maintenance needs, with an FCI number of 0.58.

According to VFA, any facility with a facility’s condition number (FCI) above 0.10 is considered to be in fair to poor condition. The Royal University FCI number is 0.58.

“Even after significant investment of $1.1 billion in just the last seven years, we still have more work to do on health capital,” said Health Minister Dustin Duncan in the article.
