Signature HealthCARE looking to expand longterm care facility

Tennessee facility seeks Eden certification for facilities with a homelike atmosphere

By Healthcare Facilities Today

Signature HealthCARE of Erin, Tenn., is working to expand it's facilities and certifications, according to an article on The StewartHouston Times website.

“The big issue right now is Eden certification. It’s a program for a long-term care facility that embodies a home-like atmosphere,” said nursing home administrator Barry Cotton in the article.

Obtaining the certification is the first step to secure private grants that can be used to further the home-like environment, he said. “It will allow us to create common areas that are like living rooms, with fireplaces and couches.”

Cotton said money obtained through the grants could be used for their Greenhouse Project which would construct separate living quarters for 16 people in a standalone building adjacent to an independent living portion of the nursing home. The building would feature a common area for the residents where they can interact and help with cooking.

Signature HealthCARE of Erin is one of 78 skilled nursing and rehab centers operated by Louisville, Ky.-based Signature HealthCARE.
