'Starbucks of healthcare' opens in Connecticut

ASAP Urgent Care opens location in Madison

ASAP Urgent Care, a new urgent medical treatment facility recently opened its doors in Madison, Conn., according to an article on the Shoreline Times.

“We plan to bring Starbucks to the medical world,” ASAP’s CEO Traver Hutchins said in the article. He refers to people seeking treatments at ASAP as “customers,” rather than “patients.”

According to the article, customers will be greeted by “a warm and friendly concierge in the lounge.” ASAP’s offices look like high-end business suites and there's a private children’s waiting area. There's also soft mood music in the background, expensive office furnishings throughout and classic artwork along the walls.

Even when there isn't a doctor on the premises, according to the article, staff physicians can monitor patients electronically in real time with the assistance of an onsite physician’s assistant.
