Top health technology hazards named

ECRI Institute announces top 10 health technology hazards for 2015


To help hospitals reduce technology-related risks, the ECRI Institute publishes an annual list of Top 10 Health Technology Hazards.

The list highlights 10 safety topics for hospitals to address in the coming year, according to an article on the FacilityCare website. 

The list includes an overview of each hazard and recommended action steps. For the fourth year, clinical alarm hazards are first on the list. 

Other topics on the 2015 list include:

• Incorrect or missing data in electronic health records 

• Inadequate reprocessing of endoscopes and surgical instruments

• Patient-handling device use errors and device failures.

• Cybersecurity
