The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted healthcare facilities managers to be more resourceful than they’ve ever been before, especially when it comes to reimagining spaces in thor facilities for other uses or repurposing other facilities to meet needs that existing facilities cannot. Now, as the nation begins to expand COVID-19 vaccine availability, many managers are on the hunt for additional space to perform vaccination services.
Dedicating space at the hospital might not be the best-case scenario, according to Health Facilities Management. Many hospital campuses are large and have limited parking. Providing ample wayfinding from the parking to the clinic space can be a challenge. Another issue is the accessibility of the hospital to the community at large.
One option to these challenges has become available, and managers might not be aware of. In January, AEG, Bandit Lites, Broadway League, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, International Association of Venue Managers, Live Nation, the National Association of Music Merchants, the National Independent Talent Organization, the National Independent Venue Association, Oak View Group, and We Make Events formally offered their venues, staff and expertise to the COVID-19 vaccination effort.
