Virtual walkthrough in 3D with GRAPHISOFT BIMx and ZEISS cinemizer OLED Glasses

By Healthcare Facilities Today

BUDAPEST - GRAPHISOFT, the global leader in Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions for architects, announced today that ZEISS cinemizer® OLED glasses are now available for use with its award-winning BIMx program.  The ZEISS cinemizer glasses create an impression and feeling of being in the center of the GRAPHISOFT building information model and offer a new dimension in virtual reality presentations.  The glasses can be connected to desktop or laptop computers, as well as Apple iPad and iPhone devices.

Developed by an international leader in the fields of optics and optoelectronics, the new cinemizer OLED virtual reality glasses from ZEISS visualize CAD data even in stereoscopic 3D mode offered by the BIMx viewer. As a result, it creates an immersive experience for the viewer. With a head motion sensor (head tracker), users intuitively can look around inside or outside a building by natural head movement and even walk through them virtually. This creates a unique impression and feeling of being in the center of this virtual world. Future homeowners, for example, can experience what it’s like to ’walk through’ their future dwelling while still in the planning phases. Changes can be implemented in real time, thus eliminating unexpected costs due to modifications.

The high-contrast OLED display as well as the light weight of the glasses ensure optimal comfort and wearability and enable individual adjustment to suit the user’s visual needs. The setup for this virtual walk through is very easy. Simply connect the cinemizer OLED glasses to a standard HDMI port and connect the head tracker to a USB port on your computer. There is no additional hardware or driver installation needed.

Developed by GRAPHISOFT, BIMx is a professional BIM project viewer featuring “BIMx Hyper-models”, a unique technology for integrated 2D and 3D building project navigation. BIMx Hyper-models offer extremely smooth handling and outstanding performance even for projects with complex 3D building models and extensive 2D documentation.
