Wyoming hospital addresses safety issues after fire

A ruptured gas line and electrical line sparked fire at Sheridan Memorial Hospital

Hospital officials are addressing safety issues after a ruptured gas line and electrical line sparked a fire at Wyoming's Sheridan Memorial Hospital, according to an article on the Sheridan Press website.

The gas line rupture happened while a construction crew was excavating a trench to install a storm sewer line on the east side of the Medical Arts Complex. The rupture temporarily interrupted natural gas supply to the Medical Arts Complex and the hospital.

To safely repair the gas line, exposed electrical conductors needed to be-energized. During the process, a spark ignited the gas leak and MDU then manually excavated, exposed and clamped the line, stopping the leak.

Hospital leadership, construction contractors and sub-contractors subsequently evaluated the event and developed a plan of action to prevent future risks.
