Exam room cleaning is crucial

Nosocomial infections can occur at a doctor’s exam room

Nosocomial infections can occur at the doctor’s exam room, so proper exam room cleaning is an important part of every healthcare protocol, according to an article on the Kalvac website.

Healthcare facilities must follow strict infection prevention guidelines and procedures, but doctor’s offices don't have the same protocols.

Doctor's offices don't have areas exclusively dedicated to patients, so they are more vulnerable to germ contamination. Also, patients tend to move quickly through the exam room decreasing the likelihood of thorough, post-patient cleaning, the article said.

A varied approach to exam room cleaning will minimize risks. Exam tables and furniture should be wiped down. A floor cleaning system that cleans fully and leaves floors dry is also recommended.
