ASHRAE systems manual guideline open for public comment

ASHRAE guideline on how to create a facility systems manual is open for public comment through June 2, 2013.

By Healthcare Facilities Today

A proposed ASHRAE guideline on how to create a facility systems manual is open for public comment through June 2, 2013.

Guideline 1.4P, The Systems Manual for Facilities, aims to standardize a procedure for transmitting design, construction, testing and operational information to facility managers and building owners. Such a manual is a requirement under ASHRAE Standard 202P, Commissioning Process for Buildings and Systems, as well as other ASHRAE commissioning guidelines and assorted industry standards and codes. However, no standardized guideline on how to create such a manual exists, according to ASHRAE.

In addition to transmitting design, construction, testing and operational information, and establishing the proper ways to maintain that information, systems manuals created with the proposed guideline can serve as tools for operator and occupant training, ASHRAE says.
