Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center has switched to a cloud-based platform to get away from CDs, according to an article on the Forbes website.
Previously, Cincinnati Children’s had been burning many $10 CDs a day to copy the30,000 images it received each year. Plus, couriers were costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A study on the Diagnostic Imaging website found that healthcare facilities are wasting over 84 days per year on CD upload, burning and patient data matching.
The healthcare facility now shares and receives images online and finds that using the cloud also cuts down on redundant imaging.
The Indiana University Health system also transitioned from a CD-based system to a proprietary cloud system and now had the ability for near-instant image transfers which improved patient outcomes.
