Information security pros needed in healthcare

Cyber attacks are expected to expand the information security professional workforce by nearly 20 percent


All the data breaches, hackers, ransomware and medical records theft during the last couple years in healthcare is creating great demand for information security professionals, according to an article on the Healthcare IT News website.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the number of jobs in the information security analysts occupation will increase by 18 percent from 2014 to 2024.

This surge in hiring is due in part to ransomware attacks against healthcare providers.

As the healthcare industry expands its use of electronic medical records, ensuring patients' privacy and protecting personal data are becoming more important.
