Jupiter Medical Center is providing notice pertaining to a recent incident experienced by a third-party electronic health record (EHR) vendor, Cerner Corporation. The Cerner Corporation data security incident did not involve Jupiter Medical Center information systems, however, out of an abundance of caution, Jupiter Medical Center is making potentially affected individuals aware of the incident and steps that impacted individuals can take to protect their personal information.
They learned that an unauthorized third party gained access to and obtained data that was maintained by Cerner Corporation. Cerner Corporation has determined through an investigation that, at least as early as January 22, 2025, an unauthorized third party gained access to personal health information on legacy Cerner Corporation systems. Cerner Corporation informed them that law enforcement investigators directed a delay in notifying patients, as well as its hospital customers, about this incident because it could have impeded their investigation.
Following an investigation and coordination with Cerner Corporation, Jupiter Medical Center concluded on or about November 30, 2025 that information involved in the Cerner Corporation data security incident may have included protected health information pertaining to a limited number of Jupiter Medical Center patients, such as names, Social Security numbers, and information included within patient medical records, such as medical record numbers, doctors, diagnoses, medicines, test results, images, care and treatment.
Cerner Corporation advised that as soon as Cerner Corporation learned of the incident, Cerner Corporation initiated its critical incident response process, took steps to secure the impacted Cerner Corporation systems with help from external cybersecurity specialists and engaged with federal law enforcement.
