The VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach is dealing with another episode of potentially harmful bacterial in its water supply, according to the CBS12 website.
The Legionella bacteria first appeared at the facility in January and the all clear was given then.
“It’s in the system. You know we hyper-chlorinated. We hoped that we resolved it. Obviously we didn’t resolve all of it,” said Jon Roberts, West Palm Beach VA chief of facilities management.
All the drinking fountains in the facility have been shut off. They’ve also changed the filters on dozens of shower heads and ice-making machines. All in-patient rooms have been stocked with bottled water to use for brushing teeth.
The VA is working on a long-term solution involving a secondary water disinfection system.
