Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Fla., is getting dental servies to underserved children via a 40-foot mobile unit fitted with telehealth applications, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.
Each week, the mobile unit visits underserved locations to provide screenings, exams, treatments, oral and health-hygiene education and other services.
The mobile unit is equipped with two dental operatory suites as well as telehealth equipment that enables two-way communication between the mobile unit and colleagues at Nicklaus who offer further medical support.
The hospital can see video and images if care challenges arise.
