New Jersey medical center takes emergency care mobile

ER Check-In app allows patients to notify hospital of a pending emergency department visit with their smartphone, tablet or computer

By Healthcare Facilities Today

Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood Township, N.J., has launched a campaign that uses technology to ease the anxiety of patients and their family members visiting the Emergency Department, according to an article on NJ.com.

Kimball uses ER Check-In, an app that allows patients to notify hospital staff of a pending emergency department visit directly from their smartphone, tablet or computer.

“This gives patients the ability to notify Kimball’s emergency department staff of their impending arrival, essentially helping to alleviate the patient or family member’s anxiety and allowing the hospital staff to prepare for the patient’s arrival,” Judy Colorado, vice president of nursing, Kimball Medical Center, said in the article.

While Kimball is the only facility to currently utilize the app's ER Check-In feature, all the facilities within it's system — Barnabas Health - are highlighted within the app, which allows users to search for our healthcare facilities by name or location.
