Non-emergency patients steered away from Dubai hospital’s new ER

Patients are encouraged to use non-emergency healthcare facilities for minor conditions

Patients are being encouraged to use Dubai’s non-emergency healthcare facilities for minor conditions rather than go to Rashid Hospital’s trauma center — despite a new 159-bed wing opening, according to an article on The National website.

An estimated 60 percent of the 600 daily trauma cases could be treated elsewhere, which would leave more beds for the rising number of car crash victims

The extended trauma center and improved coordination hub should improve efficiency to ensure patients are treated at the right time, in the right place, hospital officials said.

Dubai is also building more urgent care units that will help take load off a lot of the trauma centers.
