OCH Regional Medical Center is notifying patients of a data security incident involving certain files in its network. On September 6, 2023, unauthorized individuals gained access to 67,000 files in OCH’s possession. The breach was discovered on September 14, 2023, and OCH’s Security Team took immediate action to secure the network and successfully halt unauthorized access.

Steps have been taken to strengthen internal systems, improve security protocols and prevent future incidents.

Following a thorough and ongoing investigation, it was determined that the unauthorized party may have accessed certain patient records, which could include information such as name, Social Security number, date of birth, phone number, address, diagnosis, disability code, account number and insurance and payer information.

Forensic experts were thus engaged to assist in protecting patient information and in identifying which records may have been affected. In compliance with HHS regulations, affected individuals will receive a formal notice with additional details.
