Pa. healthcare facility adds calming live music to common areas

New arts department created a variety of art and music therapies at the hospital


Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., has added calming live music to common areas, according to an article on the Penn State website.

Penn State's Center Stage Arts in Health program was designed to try to make lobbies, waiting rooms and common areas become comforting for patients and visitors.

The new department has created a variety of art and music therapies at the hospital.

Center Stage offers patients their choice of artworks to brighten their rooms, opportunities to create their own masterpieces while recuperating, creative writing classes with noted authors and more, in addition to its centerpiece of live music.
