U of Chicago moved patients before nursing strike

Pediatric patients in the ICU were moved to other hospitals


Pediatric patients in the intensive care unit at University of Chicago Medicine were moved to other hospitals before a one-day nurses' strike on Sept. 20, according to an article on the Becker's Hospital Review website.

Patients transferred before the strike include babies and children in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. 

New patient transfers from other hospitals were not be accepted, and some elective surgeries and appointments were rescheduled.

The hospital also closed at least four adult units, including an adult intensive care unit.
