New features promote safety, convenience


When buying a warming cabinet, choose one that does two things well, according to an article on the Outpatient Surgery website.

Cabinets need to get and keep your fluids and blankets warm.

The cabinet should have at least two compartments, each with its own thermostat.

Fluids and blankets should be warmed separately because blankets should be warmed to a higher temperature than fluids or else they'll provide little comfort by the time they reach patients. 

Fluids can end up cooking the proteins in blood if they're too warm.
