Houston healthcare facility official discusses Harvey preparedness

Memorial Hermann Health System was among the many hospitals affected by hurricane

Each of Memorial Hermann Health System campuses typically drills four times a year for events such as hurricanes, tropical storms, a plane crash or bioterrorism, according to an official with the system discussing emergency preparedness with Becker's Hospital Review in an article on the Becker's website.

Prior to the hurricane's arrival, the system connected with all of its emergency preparedness officers (EPOs) sending them tools to assess their campus, looking at infrastructure, supplies, food and nutrition, nursing staffing, departmental staffing, length of stay, getting patients discharged and pharmaceuticals

The EPOs did assessments on each of their campuses and started having a daily call with the EPOs to go over their information and their data to see if there were any major concerns.

Campuses with construction projects underway instructed the contractors to clear the sites and tye things down and secure equipment.
