Indiana healthcare facility is becoming a verified level 3 trauma center


Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind., constantly updates disaster-response plans and is becoming a verified level 3 trauma center, according to an article on the Sun Commercial website.

In a wide-scale disaster, whether it's a mass shooting, a severe tornado or that massive earthquake along the New Madrid Fault, Good Samaritan Hospital would be on the front line of dealing with the casualties.

The Good Samaritan staff have had a dedicated emergency management committee with 36 members for years. It has the resources available for two mobile ER tents and a mobile intensive-care unit, so it can set up tents in the middle of a field with full power.

The hospital maintains enough supplies in the building to manage for several days.
